Pausing a Widget in the Kitcast Dashboard
If you need to temporarily stop a specific playlist item from playing while keeping the rest of your playlist running, follow these steps:
- Go to your Kitcast Dashboard.
- Find your active playlist and locate the slide you'd like to pause.
- Hover over the slide and click the pause button:
What Happens Next?
- The paused widget will no longer be displayed until you manually unpause it by pressing the play button on that slide.
- Other items in the playlist will continue playing as usual, simply skipping the paused slide.
- If you pause all slides in the playlist (or if it's the only item in the playlist), nothing will be left to play, and you’ll see the following message on your screen:
“The Playlist is empty. Please update it on your dashboard.”
Important Note: Pausing a widget in the dashboard removes it from your screen completely rather than keeping it in a "paused" state. It won't reappear until you manually resume it.
Pausing Content Using Your Apple TV Remote
For a quick pause on a specific screen, you can use your Apple TV remote:
- Grab your Apple TV remote.
- Press the Play/Pause button once to pause the content.
- Press the button again to resume playback.
How This Works:
- This option freezes everything currently displayed on the screen, whether it’s a video, image, or any other widget.
- Unlike the dashboard pause feature, this only affects the Apple TV you're controlling.
- If the same playlist is playing on multiple screens in different locations, only the TV you paused will stop—the others will continue playing as usual.
Choosing the Right Pause Option:
Dashboard Pause
✔ Skips the widget in the playlist
✔ Other widgets continue playing
✔ Affects all screens playing the playlist
❌ Does not keep the content frozen on screen
TV Remote Pause
✔ Freezes the current screen on one Apple TV
✔ Works instantly with a single button press
✔ Only affects the Apple TV you're controlling
❌ Other screens with the same playlist keep playing
