Set Expiration Dates for Playlists and/or Media Items

We provide an easy way to manage time-sensitive content by setting expiration dates for both playlists and individual media items. This feature allows you to automate content removal, ensuring your playlists or media are updated according to your schedule. Here’s how to use it:

Setting an Expiration Date for a Playlist

Let’s say you've created a playlist for a specific event such as a holiday (e.g., Christmas), and want it to stop playing automatically once the event has passed. Here's how you can set it up:

          1. Access Your Playlist:
  • Navigate to the playlist you want to edit.
  • Click on the three dots menu next to the playlist name:

          2. Set Playlist Expiration:
  • Select Set Playlist Expiration from the dropdown menu.

  • Choose the expiration date (e.g., December 26)
          3. Manage Media Deletion (Optional):
  • If you want the media in the playlist to be automatically deleted from your Kitcast media storage after the playlist expires, check the box labeled Delete playlist’s media on its expiration.

  • If you leave the box unchecked, only the playlist will be deleted, and the media will remain in your Kitcast Media Storage.
          4. Confirm the Setup:
  • Once the expiration date is set, you’ll see a confirmation message stating: “Done.”

  • The playlist name will now display the expiration date (e.g., “Expires: Dec 26, 2024”).:

          5. Cancel or Modify the Expiration:

To cancel or update the expiration:
  • Click the three dots menu again.
  • Select Set Playlist Expiration and choose Don’t Expire to cancel the expiration:

Setting an Expiration Date for Individual Media Items

You can also set an expiration date for specific media files, independent of any playlist. To do so:

  1. Access Your Media and Set Media Expiration:
    • Go to the Media folder.
    • Find and select the content you want to schedule for expiration.
    • Find button Set Expiration Date:

  • Choose the desired expiration date, just as you would for playlists.
  • Once set, the media item will be automatically removed from your storage on the scheduled expiration date.

Key Notes:

  • Use the Delete playlist’s media on its expiration option carefully to manage your storage efficiently.
  • You can easily modify or cancel expiration settings for both playlists and individual media items at any time, giving you full flexibility over your content schedule.

This feature makes it simple to automate content removal for time-sensitive playlists and media, ensuring your content updates seamlessly according to your needs.
