Add a Soundtrack to Your Playlist in Kitcast
Enhance your content with the Add Soundtrack feature in Kitcast. By adding sound to your playlist, you can create a more dynamic and engaging experience for your audience. Whether you're displaying holiday content or other media, background music can elevate your digital signage.
Steps to Add a Soundtrack:
- Select Your Playlist
Begin by navigating to the desired playlist in your Kitcast Dashboard. - Add Soundtrack
Once you’ve selected your playlist, click on the Add Soundtrack option. You will have two ways to add audio:- Upload an Audio File: If you have a specific audio file, you can upload it directly from your device.
- Paste a YouTube Link: Alternatively, you can paste a YouTube link to stream the soundtrack.
3. Verify Your Soundtrack
After adding the soundtrack, you will see the song listed in the soundtrack section of your playlist. This confirms that the audio is linked and will play when your content is displayed.
Example:
For a Christmas playlist, we added the Popular Christmas Songs and Carols Top 45 Playlist using this YouTube link.
Once the link was pasted, the soundtrack appeared in the designated area, ready to accompany the media.
Removing a Soundtrack
If you decide you no longer want the soundtrack:
- Go back to the Playlists tab in the dashboard.
- Open the playlist containing the soundtrack.
- Locate the added soundtrack and click the remove button (x) next to the song in the playlist. This will remove it from the playlist and update your settings accordingly:
Handling Mixed-Content Playlists
If your playlist contains both items with audio (e.g., videos, streaming services, Tasty widget) and no-sound items (e.g., clocks, photos), here’s how the added soundtrack interacts with them:
Priority of Audio Playback
- Default Behavior: The added soundtrack will not override the existing audio in videos or streams by default. If your playlist includes content that already has audio (such as a video with its own sound), it will play with the audio from that video, even if a soundtrack is added above it.
- Overriding Existing Audio: If you'd like the soundtrack to take priority over any existing audio in the playlist, the items with audio in the playlist should be manually muted.
No-sound Items and Soundtracks
- Silent Items: For items with no audio (such as pictures, clocks, or other no-sound content), the added soundtrack will be applied automatically. These items will be displayed with the audio from the selected soundtrack on the background.
Example:
In this example, you have a video with its own audio, and you've added a soundtrack to the playlist:
- When you hover your cursor over the video widget, the sound icon will appear green by default. This indicates that despite the added soundtrack, the video will play with its own audio:
- To switch this, click on the sound icon, and it will turn red. This means the video is now muted, and the soundtrack (e.g., “Popular Christmas Songs”) will be played instead:
- For no-sound items (like clocks or photos), the soundtrack will automatically play over them without the need for any additional action.
By incorporating soundtracks into your playlists, you can enrich the viewer experience and make your content even more engaging. Start adding soundtracks today and take your digital signage to the next level!
