Use Shared Storage & Group-Specific Media

Effective media management is essential for making the most of your Kitcast digital signage. With Kitcast, you have access to two powerful tools for organizing and distributing content: Shared Storage and Group-Specific Media. These features provide flexibility and control, allowing you to tailor your content for specific audiences or display it across your entire network. Here’s how to use them effectively.

Accessing the Media Section

To begin managing your content:

  1. Open the Kitcast Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Media section from the menu on the left-hand side.

In the Media section, you’ll see two categories: Shared Storage and Groups. Let’s explore what each option offers and how you can maximize their potential.

What Is Shared Storage?

Shared Storage serves as a centralized library for all your media files. This space is ideal for content that you plan to use across multiple screens or throughout your entire digital signage network. All invited users in your organization’s Kitcast workspace will have access to the Shared Storage.

When to Use Shared Storage

  • Universal Content: Store organization-wide announcements, promotional videos, or branding assets that may appear on all screens.
  • Seasonal Campaigns: Upload seasonal media, such as holiday greetings or sales ads, for easy access and distribution.

What Is Group-Specific Media?

Group-Specific Media allows you to store and manage content for specific groups of screens. This feature is particularly useful when you want to display unique content tailored to different locations, departments, or audiences - but would not necessarily share those creative assets with all invited users from your organization. Only Group Managers will be able to see that group’s media folder.

When to Use Group-Specific Media

  • Targeted Messaging: Share content that’s relevant to a specific group of screens, such as location-specific promotions or department-specific updates.
  • Streamlined Organization: Keep your media library clean and manageable by separating files based on their intended group.

How to Add Media to a Group

  1. Go to the Media section and select the group you want to manage.
  2. Upload or move the media files specific to that group.

Benefits of Shared Storage & Group-Specific Media

  • Flexibility: Seamlessly switch between global campaigns and location-specific content.
  • Efficiency: Reduce clutter by keeping media organized based on its purpose.
  • Control: Ensure that content appears where it’s needed, avoiding confusion or errors.

Tips for Efficient Media Management

  1. Plan Your Storage: Decide whether media belongs in Shared Storage or a specific group before uploading.
  2. Label Clearly: Use descriptive names for easy navigation.
  3. Stay Up-to-Date: Remove old files regularly to keep your library organized. Check out our media expiration feature!
